Terenten and Pfalzen
The sun terrace of the lower Puster Valley
The region between the two villages of Terenten and Pfalzen forms a stark contrast to the rather shadowy lower Puster Valley. The open and sunny location on a huge south-facing slope makes the area a huge sun terrace with a great view of the Dolomites. Due to its beautiful location, the area is relatively densely populated. Numerous farms and hamlets are scattered throughout the elongated slope. An ideal location for long walks or bike rides.
Very close to Terenten the small Ternertal Valley branches off to the north. Here it’s worth seeing the "Terner mill trail". Five well-preserved water mills, which are still partially in operation for show purposes. In Pfalzen the small parish church is worth seeing. Inside a complete cycle of frescoes of Friedrich Pacher from the 15th century was discovered in the late 70s.
