The Val Badia
Tourism centre and nature paradise
Right at the foot of the Sella, the Val Badia (German: Gadertal) begins, which extends over a length of more than 30 kilometres to the Puster Valley. Paradoxically, the Val Badia is one of the most touristy and at the same time most pristine valleys in the Dolomites. While the villages in Alta Badia are very crowded during the high season, the villages further down the valley are still predominantly agricultural. Linguistically the Val Badia belongs to the Ladin valleys in the Dolomites. The name "Badia / Val Badia" comes from the Middle Ages when the area of the Val Badia belonged to the Sonneburg nunnery.
Holidays in the Val Badia
