The Rosengarten area
En route in the glowing mountains
Steep rocky peaks, barren wasteland and a rugged mountain landscape – that’s the Rosengarten (rose garden, Italian: Catinaccio) area. It’s quite inconceivable that such a rough area has such a name. But at least when the sun goes down and the rocks of the Rosengarten shine in fantastic red lights the magnificent landscape begins to show its true face. It is therefore not surprising that many myths and legends about this mountain range have grown and in the main towns, Tiers, Welschnofen, Karersee and Deutschnofen, you will come across fairytale names and legendary figures like King Laurin everywhere you go.
Holidays in the Rosengarten area
Despite the seemingly inhospitable area of the Rosengarten it is a popular holiday destination for hikers, skiers and mountain sports enthusiasts of all kinds. Free skiing and hiking buses bring the holidaymakers to the main ski lifts and entrance points throughout the whole tourist area of the Rosengarten-Latemar.
