The Gsies Valley
Hiking and cross-country paradise
The Gsies Valley is probably one of the most tranquil valleys of the Dolomites. There are no crowds of tourists and ski resorts so the valley is a little secret for hikers and cross-country skiers. The pastures open here in mid-May and attract many hikers who want to enjoy the spring in the Dolomites. In addition to the many kilometres of cross-country land, the valley offers a large number of winter hiking trails for those who don’t fancy boards strapped to their feet. Many of the numerous hiking trails were once used for smuggling goods to Austria.
Holidays in the Gsies Valley
Welsberg, Taisten, Gsies and St. Magdalena are the four main towns in the Gsies Valley. The valley, which is at least partially spared from tourism, still offers good opportunities for hiking, walking and cross-country skiing. The ideal place for those who want to enjoy a quiet holiday.
