The Fassa Valley (Val di Fassa)
Sports spot in Trentino
Directly between some of the most famous mountain ranges of the Dolomites is the Fassa Valley. The Sassolungo, Latemar, Rosengarten and Sella on the right, and the Marmolada on the left, offer not only a vast setting but also numerous sports facilities in both winter and summer. The five main towns of the valley, Vigo di Fassa, Moena, Pozza, Campitello and Canazei, belong to the ancient Ladin centre of the Dolomites – in spite of extensive Italianisation, old traditions and the Ladin language are still very important. The Great Dolomites Road crosses the valley from the north.
Holidays in the Fassa Valley
Sports fans will be delighted with the many opportunities in the beautiful environment of the Fassa Valley. Skiing, cross-country skiing, ice hockey, winter hiking and dog sledding are as popular in winter as hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, golfing and paragliding in summer - a paradise for anyone who likes very sportive holidays. In terms of prices the Fassa Valley is cheaper than most South Tyrolean valleys and the Ampezzo – you can find a bargain or two.
