Idyllic mountain scenery at Lake Garda
In addition to the high plateau of Tremòsine, the high plateau of Tignale is another tennis stronghold around Lake Garda. Many hotels and tennis clubs are to be found here. Tignale and Tremòsine are connected via a mountain pass – in contrast to the latter, the high plateau of Tignale appears to be almost extinct. Just six villages are scattered across the plateau. Nevertheless, Tignale comes up with a truly impressive sight: The Sanctuary of the Madonna di Monte Castello. It was built in the 17th century on the ruins of an ancient Scaliger castle and hangs literally 690 metres above the lake! Inside you will find many beautiful frescoes from the school of Giotto. From the monastery behind the church you can climb to a summit cross and enjoy one of the most beautiful views of Lake Garda.
