Magnificent palaces in Vicenza

You should not miss this side street of the Corso Andrea Palladio because here are some of the most magnificent palaces of Vicenza. Right at the beginning you can see the Gothic-Venetian Palazzo Thiene Cavalloni (No. 6-10) and the ornate Palazzo Thiene (No. 12) with its beautiful frescoed façade. A typical Palladian building is the Palazzo Barbaran da Porto (No. 11) with its imposing façade. What is remarkable here is the use of Ionic columns on the ground floor and Corinthian columns on the first floor. Inside the Palazzo Barbaran da Porto is a Palladian museum that you can visit and a Palladio Study Center. Another worthwhile sight is the beautiful arcaded courtyard of the Palazzo Porto-Breganze (No. 17), with its Gothic windows series. Other palaces in the Contra Porti are the Palazzo Iseppo da Porto (No. 21) and the Gothic-Venetian Palazzo Colleoni-Porto (No. 19) which is currently regarded as the most beautiful Gothic-Venetian Palazzo.
