Isola Albarella
Resort island south of Venice
The Isola Albarella south of Venice is an ideal holiday resort, especially for families. The 500-acre-large island with a length of 5 km and a width of 1.5 km is connected by a causeway to the mainland. Extensive parks, miles of sandy beaches and good tourist infrastructure make the island a popular holiday destination. Especially in the high season a rich programme of sports, entertainment and every kind of entertainment is offered. Children in particular are offered a really varied programme with a mini zoo, numerous swimming pools, circuses, sports courses and playgrounds.
However, the island can only be accessed by car by residents or holidaymakers with booked hotels. Driving is allowed on the island, but thanks to its small size you can also bike or walk quickly to any desired point of the island. The offshore island Scano Cavallari can be reached from the Isola Albarella by boat. The local sailing school offers sailing courses, a beach bar and free transport to the island.
Especially in summer it sometimes gets very hot and humid on the Isola Albarella, so you should definitely choose accommodation with air conditioning. Due to its natural lagoons you should also prepare yourself for mosquitoes.
