High plateau of Tremosine
Stunning plateau above Lake Garda
The high plateau of Tremosine is at an altitude of 400 to 680 metres above sea level. Like in a different world, you are surrounded by the atmosphere of an alpine mountain region here – and all with a fabulous panoramic view over Lake Garda. A total of 17 villages, together the main town of Pieve di Tremosine, are huddled together on the plateau. Some of them consist mainly of hotels and accommodation. Nevertheless, the plateau is far from being crowded by tourists – quite the opposite. All who want to get away from the tourist masses around Lake Garda will find a quiet place surrounded by nature here. When approaching Tremosine, do not miss the access road to the plateau from the south. It leads through the Brasa Gorge and is one of the most spectacular roads around Lake Garda. The high plateau of Tremosine is known as a hotbed of tennis players.
Pieve di Tremosine
In the beautiful capital of the small plateau it is essential to visit the parish church from the 14th century. Fantastically beautiful baroque carvings in the altar area, the choir stalls and an organ can be admired here. A highlight of a special kind is the terrace of the Hotel Paradiso. Breathtaking and striking, it swings on concrete pillars over the abyss. A truly unique experience for a short coffee stop! However, if you are afraid of heights you may prefer to enjoy a coffee break inside.
