Recently discovered surprises
The subterranean "House with the Mortar Floors" from the 5th / 6th century was only discovered at the beginning of this millennium and can be accessed via the late baroque church Sant'Eufemia. It houses very well-preserved stone and mosaic arches and fascinating depictions. For once, the Good Shepherd (Buon Pastore) is portrayed without a halo and a lamb round his neck. The depiction of the Dance of the Seasonal Spirits (Danza dei Geni delle Stagione) in the Byzantine part of the house is unusually figurative for this era.
