Aside from the Basilica di Sant'Apollinare, the area of the erstwhile Benedictine monastery in Ravenna's suburb Classe houses a historic library. Baroque-style shelves store important manuscripts and rare codices of the religious order including an 11th century Aristophanes codex with transcripts of the Greek comic playwright from pre-Christian times.
