Palazzo Massari
Museum
Palazzo Massari
Home of numerous museums
Built in the late 15th century and extended several times over the course of time, Palazzo Massari in the north of the city at Corso Parta Mare is home to a grand garden with several modern sculptures and many different museums. Said garden is the location of the pavilion Padiglione di Arte Contemporanea, where exhibitions about contemporary art are held regularly.
The Museo d’Arte Moderne e Contemporanea “Filippo de Pisis” is predominantly, yet not exclusively, dedicated to the work of Ferrara’s painter and poet. de Pisis enjoyed painting flowers and still lifes hinting at a certain degree of melancholy. The Museo Giovanni Boldini e Museo dell’Ottocento, however, emphasises Boldini’s world-renowned portraits of celebrities including his painting of the composer Giuseppe Verdi.
