High plateau of Asiago
Summer resort and winter sports
The hilly plateau of Asiago contains eight small villages surrounded by lush meadows and wooded hillsides. The high plateau is used for summer as well as winter sports. At 1000 metres above sea level it is no surprise that it is cooler in the summer than in the Venetian plains. Hikers and mountain bikers will find excellent sporting opportunities all around on the old soldiers’ trails of World War I. The perfect snow conditions in winter guarantee great skiing.
The Asiago plateau is also well known for its mild cheeses – the Formaggio Asiago, which you simply must taste. Some museums of the First World War, archaeological finds, the remains of a Scaliger Castle and the ruins of old fortifications provide sufficient opportunities for holidaymakers interested in culture.
