Nervesa della Battaglia
First World War memorial
Nervesa della Battaglia is an inconspicuous town with no major attractions. But the village at the Piave river is dominated by a monumental bone house. The remains of 10,000 dead from the Battle of Piave in 1917/18 are buried here. A small museum contains memorabilia of this sad and awful time. The many hilltops around the village were of enormous strategic importance to the Italians in the First World War and therefore also the scene of heavy battles.
