Parco Nazionale delle Dolomiti Bellunesi
Belluno Dolomites National Park
The Belluno Dolomites National Park was established in 1993 and features two thousand metre-high mountains between the capital city of and Belluno and Feltre. The great variety of landscapes and the wonderful nature of the park are well worth visiting: deep valleys, plains, meadows, grass-covered peaks and steep faces that are similar to those in the nearby Dolomites. Monte Schiara is the highest peak in the almost uninhabited nature reserve with an altitude of 2,563 metres.
The Parco Nazionale delle Dolomiti Bellunesi itself can only be crossed by car by two streets (the SS 203 and the SP 2) – driving on the forest roads is strictly prohibited. Hikers on the other hand will find a true paradise here. Numerous hiking trails, including the Dolomite mountain trail No. 1, lead through the national park. Detailed information about the individual trails can be found on site or at www.dolomitipark.it.
