Mountain town north of Mount Etna
The small mountain town of Castiglione di Sicilia is located west of Taormina on the northern edge of Mount Etna. The small town is worth a visit not only because of the fantastic view of Mount Etna but also because of the ruins of a Norman castle and a beautiful medieval old town with many narrow streets. Castiglione di Sicilia is located in a fertile wine region, and besides its wines is also known for its hazelnuts. Gourmets will also find good restaurants with traditional local cuisine.
