Casa Museo Giovanni Verga
Literary Museum in the birthplace of Giovanni Verga
The Casa Museo Giovanni Verga is a literary museum in the birthplace of the famous Sicilian writer Giovanni Verga. With his short stories and Sicilian novellas, Verga was one of the most important representatives of Italian naturalism. The literary museum is housed in a palace near the cathedral, where Verga spent his childhood. The interior remains unchanged since the days of Verga. Copies of Vergas’ manuscripts and his 2,600 volume private library are also on display. The originals of Verga’s writings are preserved in the University Library of Catania.
