Fontana delle Tartarughe
Beautiful turtle fountain in Rome
The Fontana delle Tartarughe, the turtle fountain, was built in 1584 by Taddeo Landini after drawings by Giacomo della Porta. It owes its name to the well-fitting turtle shells on the edge of the large bowl. The bowl itself is held by four young men who rise from the four shells over the pelvis.
