Fontana del Tritone
Baroque fountain by Bernini
The Fontana del Tritone on the Piazza Barberini is a baroque masterpiece by Bernini from 1637. The artist built the fountain on behalf of Pope Urban VIII from the house of Barberini. Four dolphins hold the coat of arms with the three Barberini bees. The sea god Triton rises from a seashell and sips water from another shell from which a jet of water rises into the sky.
