Historical torture museum
Nothing for the faint of heart: The infamous Historical Torture Museum is home to more than 100 instruments of torture. Some of which are originals dating back to the 16th and 17th century, others are philological reconstructions of ancient and undiscoverable originals generated in the 19th and 20th century. Aside from known instruments of torture, such as the iron maiden, the interrogation chair, and the chastity belt, lesser known, distressingly elaborate instruments of torture are primarily presented to a wider public for the first time. These include the heretic’s fork, the Spanish spider, and the noise-maker’s fife. This gruesome journey into the past shows how imaginative people could be when it came to torture and cruelty.
