Museo della Città
City museum at Piazza Ferrari
Museo della Città, the city museum, is located directly at Pizza Ferrari, where excavations of the Roman house Domus del Chirurgo are situated in the middle. Rimini’s art history from antiquity to today can be well retraced in the museum. The main focus of the permanent exhibition lies on Roman times and the Renaissance. Its major treasure and one of the highlights is the pharmaceutical and medicinal equipment of the old Romans, which was found in the villa at Piazza Ferrari. The approx. 150 objects allow good insight into the Roman art of healing.
The art-historical heritage of the Malatesta family, who ruled Rimini for about 300 years, is worth seeing as well. Among the most important exhibits are a pietà by Giovanni Bellini as well as numerous other paintings and precious tapestry from this era.
