Museo Nazionale
Museum on the San Vitale site
Museo Nazionale is located in one of the cloisters of the former Benedictine monastery San Vitale and features exhibits from several different eras. The ground floor houses several pieces from the excavations near Classe and exhibits from Roman times. The first floor is dedicated to various collections including ivory crafts and ancient coins. One of the museum's biggest attractions is the cycle of early Renaissances frescoes created by Giotto's coeval Pietro da Rimini depicting scenes from the New Testament.
