A small city walk through Verona
For all who have not much time to spend in this beautiful city we recommend a short city walk through Verona. Our suggested tour leads to the major attractions, and in 2 to 4 hours you will have a good impression of the city and its advantages. Those who would like to see the sights from inside should buy a VeronaCard for two days. You can purchase it for 15 euro in the Roman arena – you’ll get your money’s worth even on this short city walk.
- We start our city walk at Piazza Brà, one of the largest and most beautiful squares in Verona.
- The first destination is the magnificent Roman arena just on the Piazza Brà. In summer the Verona opera festival takes place here, so alterations are made to the stage very often during the day. (VeronaCard is valid here)
- From the Arean di Verona walk down the famous shopping street Via Mazzini down to Via Cappello.
- At Via Cappello turn right, and after 50 metres enter the house of Juliet on the left-hand side through an archway. Here you can find the famous balcony and a bronze statue of Juliet (VeronaCard is valid).
- Back on Via Cappello go back the 50 metres you just walked and arrive at the Piazza del Erbe, the ancient centre of Verona.
- At Piazza del Erbe you will find the Torre dei Lamberti (VeronaCard is valid) from where you can enjoy a magnificent view over the city.
- Depending on your time and mood, take this perfect opportunity to make a short detour to the Piazza dei Signori and to the tombs of the Scala family which are right behind the Piazza.
- Back on the Piazza del Erbe, leave the square and walk down the Corso Porta Borsari to the ancient city gate of Porta Borsari.
- Further down the Corso Cavour you will finally reach the castle of the Scala family, the Castelvecchio (VeronaCard is valid) and the connected famous Ponte Scaligero.
- The Via Roma leads back to the Piazza Brà where you can enjoy a short break in one of the numerous restaurants.
You can, of course, personalise this city walk through Verona and expand and extend it at your will. On ZAINOO you will many more attractions, including the Roman theatre, the cathedral of Verona and the grave of Juliet, which are all within walking distance to the city centre.
