Villa Pisani
Famous villa on the Brenta Canal
The Villa Pisani is without doubt the most famous villa on the Riviera del Brenta. This impressive building from the 18th century looks almost like a palace. Believe it or not, the magnificent building has 114 rooms. The villa was built in the 18th century for the Doge family Pisani. The striking façade is supported by enormous giants and the old porch and other rooms were decorated in sumptuous rococo style. The magnificent ballroom, which extends over two floors, is certainly one of the highlights. On the ceiling you will find a huge ceiling painting “Glory of the Pisani” by Tiepolo showing, just like in many other Brenta villas, the ruling family in all its glory. The other rooms are decorated with many frescoes, paintings and original furniture. Behind the Villa Pisani there is a magnificent park with numerous ponds, fountains, pavilions, paths and a large observation tower in the middle.
Thanks to the size and reputation of this prestigious building, the Villa Pisani was always a destination for various state visits. Kings, dictators and celebrities gathered together here. Napoleon bought the Villa when he invaded Italy, and Hitler and Mussolini met each other for the first time here in 1934.
