Via Roma and Via Umberto I
Boulevard of Padua
Closed to traffic, the two long streets Via Roma and Via Umberto I. are a paradise for strolling, shopping and lingering. From the Palazzo del Bò, the two roads lead to the Prato della Valle, Padua's main square. Worth seeing along the Via Roma is the great church of Santa Maria dei Servi from the 14th century. It was built at the request of Fina Buzzaccarini, the wife of Francesco il Vecchio da Carrara, on the former palace of Nicholas of Carrara. The decorative portico of the church deserves special attention.
Also worth a look is the beautiful Palazzo Capodilista, which is a real eye catcher with its medieval tower piece.
