Beautiful Cathedral Square in bright white
The beautiful cathedral square, located in the centre of the old town of Syracuse, shows itself to its visitors in a gleaming white. The bright square is not only home to the Cathedral of Santa Maria delle Colonne, at whose entrance still stand the Doric columns of the former Athena temple, but also home to many other buildings that create an impressive overall composition. Directly opposite the cathedral you can see the Coin Museum, the Archbishop's Palace, the church of Santa Lucia Badia, the Palazzo Beneventano del Bosco and the town hall. They were all built in the 17th or 18th Century and stand in perfect harmony with the cathedral and the cathedral square.
