Santi XII Apostoli
Church of the Twelve Apostles in Rome
The Church of the Twelve Apostles in Rome was built in the 6th Century and was originally dedicated to the Saints Philip and James. Remodelled several times, it was completely redesigned by Francesco and Carlo Fontana in 1702. On the ceiling of the three-nave basilica the fresco "triumph of the Franciscan Order" by Baciccia is emblazoned. The tomb of Pope Clement XIV from 1787, which was the first significant piece of Antonio Canova in Rome, is also situated in the church. The tomb of Cardinal Pietro Riario was created by Giovanni Dalmati and Mino da Fiesole.
