Basilica dei Santi Cosma e Damiano
Church of Oriental martyr doctors
The Church of the oriental martyr doctors Cosmas and Damian was built in the 6th Century and is situated next to the Roman Forum. The interior of the nave was rebuilt in baroque style in the 17th Century. The beautiful wooden ceiling and the mosaics on the triumphal arch of the 6th Century are worth seeing. Certainly one of the highlights of the church is the Cosmatesque medieval Easter candle. In an adjoining room, an elaborate nativity scene can be seen, which is one of the largest cribs in Rome.
