Galleria d’arte moderna
Municipal gallery of modern art
The Galleria d’arte moderna (gallery of modern art) opened its doors to the public in 1982. Its permanent exhibition includes historical and contemporary works by artists from the last two centuries. Among them are artists such as Giulio Paolini, Felice Casorati, Vanessa Beecroft, Guido Trentini and Francesco Hayez.
The foundation of the building, the Palazzo Forti, is from the 13th century. In the 15th century it was rebuilt into a luxurious residential palace with many gardens and courtyards by the Emilei family. The Austrian General Radetzky had his general command in the Palazzo during the Austrian occupation of Verona, which explains the building’s current appearance.
