The famous Trevi Fountain in Rome

In the 18th Century, Pope Clement XII commissioned the construction of Rome's largest fountain that gained world fame thanks to Fellini's film "La Dolce Vita" and the nightly bath of Anita Ekberg. Nicolò Salvi created his undisputed masterpiece from 1732 to 1751 with this unique Baroque fountain. The sea god Neptune is perched here with his two horses in front of a backdrop of seashells and Tritons, which are all surrounded by thunderous water. According to tradition a coin toss over the left shoulder assures you will return to the Eternal City of Rome.
