Capella Sant'Andrea e Museo Arcivescoville
Museum with prayer room
Museo Arcivescoville is located in the baroque bishop palace Duomo Sant'Orso. Amongst its exhibits are sarcophagi, fabrics and sculptures from the 5th and 6th century. Probably the museum's highlight is Massimiano's ivory throne, which the former Bishop of Ravenna used during his term from 546 to 556. Capella Sant'Andrea, Theoderic's private prayer room, was incorporated into the exhibition. The chapel was built by Archbishop Petrus II at the beginning of the 6th century. It is decorated with grand mosaics depicting the fierce, triumphant Christianity. The UNESCO has declared the chapel World Heritage Site.
